LINCANG PREFECTURE OVERVIEW |
The Lincang prefecture is one of the less visited areas in Yunnan. It doesn't have any monuments, but offers a gorgeous scenery. The Lincang Snow Mountain and Yongde Snow Mountain are both more than 3000 meters high. Depending on the altitude, the region lies in the tropical and sub-tropical climatic zones and is blessed with a great variety of plant and animal life.
The Lincang prefecture alone boasts 3700 kinds of trees and 3000 medicinal plants. Among other animals still prowling in the borderland jungles are the wild elephant, tiger, clouded leopard, pangolin, red panda and lemur.
The Wa minority lives along the Myanmar frontier, and the Dai in the plains, several other ethnic groups make their homes in the area.
