| The Great Nujiang Canyon was formed by the three biggest rivers in Nujiang, the Nujiang, the Lancang, and the Dulong. The canyon extends north to south and is 300 kilometers long. It is the largest longitudinal valley in China. The highest point in the canyon is over 4,000 meters above sea level and the valleys have an average depth of 2,000 meters, second in depth only to the American Grand Canyon. The steep mountains, the rapid water in the deep valley, the flowers on the banks of rivers, the thick green primeval forest on the mountainsides, and the snow-capped mountaintops all inspire adventurers to write interesting travelogues. |
